Research Camps of the Mining Museum during the Summer Holidays
The research camps of the Mining Museum have already become a fixed part of the summer holidays. In 2025, children aged 8-12 can participate again. Due to the expected high demand, two research camps will be offered again. Camp 1 will take place from July 21 to July 23, 2025, and Camp 2 from July 28 to July 30, 2025, each from 9 am to 4 pm. Please note: The research camps now last 3 days! By arrangement, children can be dropped off in the morning before the event starts, as well as picked up later until 5 pm.
The base for all activities is the Mining Museum. From there, the surrounding forests will first be explored from the perspective of early iron ore seekers and settlers. Gradually, the children will become researchers themselves, discovering interesting spots in the forest. Their awareness will be sharpened to recognize long-gone times in the landscape. Creativity and teamwork are always required. In case of very bad weather, the Mining Museum and the show mine are available.
Highlights of the event will certainly include the mineral searches (finds can be kept, hammer and safety glasses will be provided), the stone olympics, and a GPS rally to a hidden treasure. All participants will receive a diploma.
The participation fee for the 3-day event is €50. Participation is only possible for all 3 days. The number of participants is limited. Quick registration is strongly recommended.
