The History of the Rolling Mill and Its Importance for the Wisserland

The number of participants is limited. Please register!

Mining and iron smelting shaped the Wisserland for centuries.
The approximately 2-hour guided tour allows us to dive into the era of the mining industry. With the construction of the tinplate rolling mill, the industrialization of Wissen picked up speed. The number of "roller workers" rose from 300 to 3000 employees.
Ninety factory buses arrived daily from the Westerwald to the Sieg. Workers' settlements, "directors' villas," and a soccer stadium still bear witness today to what was once the largest and most modern tinplate rolling mill in Europe. The dark times in the history of the "WORK" from 1940 to 1945 will also be illuminated.
Where once rolls thundered, the smell of iron and grease hung in the air, and during the times of the Alfredhütte and the hot rolling mill the air shimmered with heat, today lies the "kulturWERKwissen."

Wissen breathes the rolling mill.
